You do not have to create divisions if you dont want to. You can choose an existing division. If you want to create more divisions , you would have to go to the enterprise structure. You can do that from the session SAP SD Enterprise Structure which contains the configuration steps on how to create the enterprise structure.

Question 1 : How many divisions would you create in this case ?
The scenario does not indicate multiple sales organizations or distribution channels, or manufacture (only speaks to selling various products that may have been originally purchased from a manufacturer). The products (CPU’s, Monitors,…) can be both stand alone finished products and package components that do not require complicated assemble (only packaging or seperate shipment, so only 1 division is required.
Question 2 : How many material groups would you create in this case ?
The company has already elected to have a high level of granularity in thier product categories. This may indicate that there are multiple products in each category and the wish to report to these specific categories. In addition the sample desktop PC products are composite “packaged” products that may be grouped for shipment using a Bill of Materials from the existing material groups or shipped as separate components, so I added 2 material groups “package computers and Lap tops. Note: If this company is not the actual manufacter then Lap Tops are sinlgle stand alone components and could have been included in ZLC1 or ZLC2, but what the heck I gave them a separate group.
ZLC1 = IBU – Intel Based CPU, ZLC2 = ABU – AMD Based CPY,
ZLC3 =M17 – 17 ” Monitors, ZLC4 = M19 – 19″ Monitors,
ZLC5 = WM – Wired Mouse, ZLC6 = LM – Wireless Mouse,
ZLC7 = WKB – Wired Keyboard, ZLC8 = LKB – Wireless Keyboard,
ZLC9 = Computer Package, ZLC10 = Lap Top
